Vampironica #1

Vampironica #1 comic reviewHave you ever wanted Archie comics to be more like Buffy the Vampire Slayer? If so, I give your Vampironica #1. The new ongoing series centers around rich girl Veronica Lodge who gets bitten by a vampire and becomes a creature of the night. Despite her hunger for blood, it appears Veronica’s main purpose is to protect her friends from the vampire who turned her and the other vampires looking to feed in Riverdale.

Vampironica #1 is mostly set-up. It’s likely you either predisposed to buy into the premise of Archie Andrews‘ on-again off-again spoiled rich-bitch girlfriend as a kick-ass vampire or you are going to ignore the comic altogether. Issue #1 was, as expected, exactly as advertised. I’m sure we’ll get more of Veronica’s adjustment to her new normal, but here we get her rebirth as a daughter of the night and taking down a couple of vamps at a late-night party.

There are several questions the comic has to answer, first and foremost is how is undead Veronica supposed to stay in school in the middle of the day? For fans.
