News and Notes – The Americans

Honestly, I’ve watched this commercial for FX new series The Americans half a dozen time and I find it incredibly hard to take seriously. The first time I saw it Iwas positive it was a parody given how ridiculous the lines from this first glimpse of the show are (“The Americans have no intelligence”). Now realizing it’s meant to be taken seriously, I honestly don’t know what to expect. The show stars Keri RussellMatthew RhysNoah Emmerich, and Max Hernández star. The Americans premieres in January on FX.

  • Title: Community – Season Four
  • tv.com: link

CommunityFebruary 7th is the new October 19th, at least according to Community‘s Yvette Nicole Brown who tweeted early yesterday afternoon that the show will finally return to the airwaves to begin its 13-episode Fourth Season beginning on February 7th. After the show was yanked from its original return date of October 19th the cast had a little fun at NBC’s expense by stating that whenever the show eventually aired that day would be the nineteenth of October. So, at least for Community fans, it appears that February 7th is now the new October 19th.

This past weekend Saturday Night Live had some fun spoofing Brad Pitt‘s recent Chanel commercial by having the actor endorse everything from Taco Bell to Dog Condoms in four separate spots. Here’s the one for Taco Bell and you can find the rest inside.

October 19th was supposed to mark the return of Community. Sadly, NBC has chosen not to air the Fourth Season premiere tonight. Instead, as the cast explains, the network will wait until for some unknown future date when the proper state of mind and feeling within us all (that is October 19th) will occur. Sigh.

Without warning or any announcement to viewers Cartoon Network pulled new episodes of Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice (along with new DC Nation animated shorts) only three weeks into the new seasons of each show in favor of reruns of Johnny Test and episodes of the network’s new show Dragons: Riders of Berk.

At the time of this posting none of the official sites (including Cartoon Network’s homepage, the DC Nation homepage, or DC Comics’ homepage) had any acknowledgement or explanation for the last-minute change. In fact Cartoon Network’s official page for Green Lantern: The Animated Series still has the show’s schedule listed at 10/9 Central on Saturday mornings. According to Rising Sun Tokusatsu the DC Nation block was quietly removed from Cartoon Network’s schedule at 1AM Saturday morning for at least the rest of October.

  • Title: Doctor Who – The Angels Take Manhattan
  • tv.com: link

A final scene was storyboarded for Doctor Who‘s mid-season finale “The Angels Take Manhattan” in which Rory (Arthur Darvill) offered a final goodbye to his father (Mark Williams). Although the scene was never shot, Darvill did record the narration and the good folks at the BBC have put it together with the storyboards to give us a look at what the final scene would have looked like.
