  Our Ratings

Vital Statistics:

Here’s a short tutorial on how we review movies, DVD’s, and the like.  Below is a simple chart and information to give you the viewer a look at how we rate different forms of media and what each ratings means.

Our basic scale runs from a top score of Five Razors to a Zero.  Instead of using a blank rating for Zero, here at RazorFine we use Bombs.  Five of anything is always good, but this is the lone exception to our rule.  Beware any review rated with the five Bombs, it’s likely to blow up in your face.  Here’s an explanation of each rating, simplified for you.

5 Razors - Perfect.  A flawless film with a strong story and first rate performances by cast and crew.

4 & 1/2 Razors - Excellent.  A true winner, a film which exceeds all expectations.

4 Razors - Very Good.  A fine film, with slight flaws that detract minimally from the experience.

3 & 1/2 Razors - Good.  Contains some errors or flaws that detract from the film.

3 Razors - Above Average.  Better than your average film, slightly, but with obvious flaws.

2 & 1/2 Razors - Average.  As good as it is bad; a film we neither encourage or dicourage viewing.

2 Razors - Below Average.  May contain moments, but as a whole the film doesn’t succeed.

1 & 1/2 Razors - Wanting.  Poor choice of script, cast, or crew wastes evident talent.

1 Razors - Bad.  Hard to watch, mistake-laden, perhaps un-intentionally funny, film.

1/2 Razors - Almost worthless.  Truly inept film that isn’t quite offensive to senses.

0 Razors - Disaster.  A complete waste of time and money.  Offensive to senses.

Custom Ratings:

At times you will see us use custom ratings for various reviews.  As you peruse our back-stock or see new reviews you might see custom ratings like the ones below.  Although it might be confusing at first glance, the number hearts, gem stones, tennis balls, (for example), are equal to the number of razors.  Here’s a little handy-dandy chart to better illustrate the point.

Well that wasn’t too bad was it?  Congratulations, you’ve just passed RazorFine 101; now get out there and read some reviews!!
