  Submissions

Vital Statistics:

Have we missed a recent film, movie, DVD, or comic?  Is there a great television show not getting the pub it deserves?  Are you dying to review it?  Well, you’ve come to the right place.  Please read the following before submitting a review.

First, the No-No’s:

1. Don’t use this as an opportunity to review your Internet site, your fan film, or as an attempt at spam.  Any such entries will simply be deleted.  Save yourself, and us, the time.

2. No pornography.  Period.

3. No plagiarism.

4. No “reality"-TV.

Still interested?  Okay then here’s what we’d like to see from you:

1. Length - Try to keep in the boundaries of 350 - 700 words.  Around 500 should be your target.  Try to keep your language to a PG-13 friendly level for all our RF viewers.

2. Spell Check and Self-Edit.  If I can’t understand what you are trying to say...

3. Be Patient - Don’t expect to see your review up 20 minutes after you submit, or even the following day.

4. Include your full name in the post and what name you would like it posted under.  Example - Your name is Harvey Wallbanger, do you want to be just Harvey, Harvey Wallbagner, Harvey Birdman, Harvey the Invisible Bunny?

5. Review, Don’t Rant and Don’t Blow Smoke.  A review praising the newest horror film as the greatest cinematic event of all time probably won’t make it onto the page, nor will one that gets off the subject of the review to rant about language, Hollywood decline, your wife, how much cooler you think I am than Aaron, etc.

6. Make sure your review makes sense.  This would seem a no-brainer, but… Make sure we know what it is you are reviewing and what category if falls into (film/television/DVD/comics/anime).  If you are writing a DVD review you might check out a few reviews of other DVD’s to see what we are looking for and what the final product should look like.  The same goes for other media categories as well.

7. Don’t get angry.  We aren’t going to publish everything submitted, and it is very likely we might slightly tweak your review in our editing process to make it better fit within the confines of our site.

8. Keep in mind release dates.  If you happen to find yourself in an early screening of a film and submit a review, realize we cannot publish it before the film is released.  However, if you are in New York and Los Angeles (for example) and have seen a film which is currently released in those markets in limited release we can publish that review.

9. Be timely.  For the most part we’re looking for new and relevant reviews.  A movie which came out six weeks ago and is on its way out of the theater isn’t the best choice for a review.  We’d prefer more recent media, but if you’ve got a need to send us a kick-ass review of a life-long favorite don’t be shy.  If it’s good we’ll post it.

10. Include the word submission and the title of what you are submitting in the title line of your e-mail.  Example - “Highlander 2: The Quickening DVD review submission.” And don’t forget to rate it - for more on how we rate media click here.

That’s it!  Now click here and start writing.
