Leverage targets a green energy CEO (Jon Fletcher) on the verge of selling a battery powerful enough to power a small electric airplane. The problem is, the battery doesn’t work. And to keep the secret, the con man has buried the evidence on farmland that has seeped into his neighbor’s property, destroying their crops. As an attempt to scare the off, and prevent the couple from doing soil tests which might reveal the truth, the CEO calls on a local hate group to forcibly remove them.

Stranded at an island inn during storm, which has been taken over by a group of dirty cops searching for a cell phone, Eliot (Christian Kane) and Parker (Beth Riesgraf) need to work with Maria (Andrea Navedo) to uncover the truth of what the cops are really after, find it first, and save the hotel employees. Cut off from any support, in the middle of a hurricane, it doesn’t take the trio long to find a rhythm (and even soften Parker’s stance on Eliot’s new girlfriend) during scenes of characters getting rained on non-stop whenever one steps outside of the inn. Sophie (Gina Bellman) and Harry (Noah Wyle) provide back-up via a ham radio, with the later also making a save at a local hospital with a few nods to Wyle’s previous role on ER.

Hurley’s return provides it’s share of laughs (and references to past episodes), particularly in his interactions with Eliot (Christian Kane) on the golf course as they attempt to turn a con against a human trafficker (James Marsters) keeping his employees in a state of constant fear.

The Leverage team takes on a former actress (Brianna Brown) selling ineffective, and sometimes dangerous, supplements under the guise of a wellness guru and her money laundering money man (David Clayton Rogers) greedy to further exploit her customer data. As far as cons go, the initial bee-themed moisturizer isn’t one of the show’s best but things do pick-up with the secondary story involving the unscrupulous partner which forces the team to change tactics in the middle of the con, pitting the pair against each other, and even revealing the truth about the con to secure another victory.
