Shaw’s (Brandon Routh) final threat brings Sarah’s (Yvonne Strahovski) past back to haunt her as the team travels to Hungary to rescue a baby and kill her former CIA handler (Tim DeKay). A race begins to save the sole innocent survivor of an unsanctioned CIA operation that left more than a dozen dead.

Unwilling and unable to tell Chuck (Zachary Levi) and Casey (Adam Baldwin) about the assignment that left an innocent baby in the crosshairs of ruthless CIA Agent looking for a huge payout, Sarah allows the team to work with her but refuses to devulge any of the details. Once the truth comes out it not only puts the young girl in danger but Sarah’s mother (Cheryl Ladd) as well.

A great episode that not only gives us Sarah’s mother (nice casting with Ladd) and Sarah in full-on Matrix kill mode, but also showcases how much the character has grown over the series’ five seasons. The show reminds us again in its final scene that Chuck and Sarah belong together, even if they are no longer spies.

I’ll admit to liking the symmetry of casting DeKay as the episode’s villain who is currently the co-star of Matt Bomer on White Collar. Chuck fans will remember Bomer as Bryce Larkin, the man who stole the Intersect and brought Chuck and Sarah together.

The episode’s B-story involves game night and mission support in Castle as Elle (Sarah Lancaster) and Awesome (Ryan McPartlin) find their fun spy night out hijacked to help repair Morgan (Joshua Gomez), and Alex’s (Mekenna Melvin) relationship. By the end of the episode all the characters are in a good place and look ready for whatever the final episodes of the series have in store for them.
