Chuck‘s final Christmas episode returns a familiar face to the show when the identity of the man behind the conspiracy to destroy Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi) is revealed to be none other than Daniel Shaw (Brandon Routh).

After capturing Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) and taking castle Chuck is forced to steal a miniature super-computer from the CIA to get his wife back. However, by giving Shaw the computer it will allow him to use the Omen super-virus to download the complete U.S. governmental database into a new Intersect 3.0 making him virtually unstoppable. I say virtually because in his way is one Charles Bartowski.

We see Team Bartowski out-gunned, Sarah and Casey (Adam Baldwin) captured, and Chuck standing alone against a man with Intersect and one hell of a grudge against both Chuck and Sarah. A nice twist, given a little Bartowski know-how, allows Chuck to save the day, but the episode’s final scene shows Shaw isn’t quite done messing with the couple’s lives quite yet.

Several of the show’s supporting cast get nice moments here including Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) who shows up just in time to save her brother, General Beckman (Bonita Friedericy) who goes further than expected to help Chuck break into the CIA, and Scott Krinsky) and Lester (Vik Sahay) who Chuck uses to discover Shaw’s plan. I’m not sure I like where the teaser for next week’s episode is going to take the show, but with only a few episodes remaining I’m ready for whatever craziness the writers have to send Chuck and Sarah off in style.
