Continuum - Lost Hours

Continuum begins its shortened final season with a big shift for its heroine. By last season’s finale Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols) had finally come to terms with helping to create a better future than the one she was separated from. The arrival of Brad‘s (Ryan Robbins) fellow soldiers from an even bleaker future controlled by Kellog (Stephen Lobo) who knock the Protector into a hallucinatory reunion with her son reignites Keira’s desire to make it back home. It’s a pretty quick one-eighty (even if it may be necessary given the limited time remaining to wrap-up the show’s various storylines), and it also stunts some of Kiera’s growth as a character over the past couple of seasons.

As has been the case over the series, the final season continues to see shifting loyalties. Kellog’s control of Piron reunites Alec (Erik Knudsen) and Julian (Richard Harmon) with a common purpose while Kiera’s shaky truce with the remaining members of Liber8 appears to be intact… at least for now. With only five episodes remaining the series has several loose ends to deal with. How does Kiera stop the gruesome future? Will she make it home, and if so to what version of the world she knew? What happens to Liber8? Whose side is Brad ultimately on? How will Alec regain control of Piron? Is Julian still destined to become Theseus? What will be the final fate of Emily (Magda Apanowicz)? At what role will the Freelancers play in shaping the future to come?
