Danger Man - The Sisters television review

Our Throwback Thursday post takes us back into the Cold War spycraft of Danger Man. There’s an interesting conundrum at the heart of “The Sisters,” but before Drake (Patrick McGoohan) can get to it he journeys halfway around the world to work with a frenemy (Sydney Tafler) to smuggle a young woman (Mai Zetterling) to the West. A talented scientist (Barbara Murray) has defected, but unsure whether or not the woman is the real thing the British send Drake to find the woman’s sister who alone can make a positive identification. Despite their initial embrace, the discrepancies in the two woman’s accounts makes it a certainty that one of them isn’t who they appear to be, but which one is lying?

There’s some fun cat-and-mouse here as Drake lays as trap for both women to discover which is the counterfeit. While I guessed correctly, the episode works the conundrum fairly well before its reveal. The duplicity of spies is also on display here for both the fake sister and Drake’s frenemy who is willing to help, kill, or surrender depending on what suits him best at the time.
