The Second Season begins with Franklin (Breckin Meyer) and Bash (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) trying to help out an old friend (Eddie Jemison), who got himself into a bit of trouble while coming onto an attractive police officer (Kat Foster) who arrested him for being drunken disorderly on the beach. While trying to keep thier friend out of jail the pair also begin to woo a big name client (Kevin Nealon) to impress 2/3 of the firm’s board and earn full partnership in Infeld Daniels.
After a night out with Franklin and Bash their big fish also lands in prison, but thanks to some quick maneuvering (i.e. basically blackmailing a judge in open court) the pair earn themselves a job, on a trial basis, when their new client asks the pair to stop a local microbrewery from selling his company’s product now that they own the recipe. But what looks like an open and shut case turns completely upside down in court when the microbrewery owner (Mercedes Colon) gets the original contract thrown out and in turn seeks an immediate injunction against the brewery from making the ale.
The episode also includes Carmen (Dana Davis) learning about the beginnings of Pindar (Kumail Nanjiani) multiple phobias, but her attempt to get him to face his past leads to uncovering unexpected feelings he couldn’t deal with for his friend’s girlfriend which Pindar never admitted to or dealt with.
A good first episode back that provides complications with both cases in Bash’s obvious chemistry with the cop he’s trying to beat in court and Franklin and Bash’s reluctance to destroy the microbrewery even if that’s what the client wants and it guarantees them partnership in the firm. Things work themselves out in the end and now we’ll see how the new partners might further shake up the firm this season.
