“We’re off on a secret mission!”

Galavant - It's All in the Executions

On the night before King Richard (Timothy Omundson) has been tricked into fighting Gareth (Vinnie Jones) to the death for control of his kingdom, Richard and Galavant (Joshua Sasse) bond over Madalena’s (Mallory Jansen) deceptions, several glasses of wine, and a secret mission to murder Kingsley (Rutger Hauer) in his sleep. Like most of Galavant’s plans it doesn’t go well.

Although not officially renewed for a Second Season the finale ends a bit unexpectedly on a cliffhanger with Gareth taking the throne aside Madalena, Galavant and King Richard fleeing the kingdom with the pirates, and Isabella (Karen David) leading the rest of the band to her cousin Harry’s (Kemaal Deen-Ellis) kingdom where she is quickly locked up in a prison of her own awaiting network renewal for any hope of rescue.

Although Galavant and Isabella finally get their kiss, the episode ends pointing out that of all the love stories explored on the show the one between Richard and Gareth has the most depth. How reigning aside Madalena might change that will have to be seen, as will what a trip abroad with Galavant and the pirates might do for Richard. Of course this all hinges on the entertaining half-hour musical romp being renewed for another season. I certainly hope we haven’t seen the last of Galavant.
