Still in Japan searching for Joe White (Terry O’Quinn) and answers about Shellburne, McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) finally catches up with Wo Fat (Mark Dacascos). Meanwhile, back on Hawaii, Kono’s (Grace Park) new secret relationship bliss with Adam Noshimuri (Ian Anthony Dale), the son of the local head of the Yakuza, is interrupted by a new murder tied to Wo Fat and possibly Kono’s new boyfriend.

While Interpol takes Wo Fat into custody McGarret has Danny (Scott Caan), Chin (Daniel Dae Kim) and Kono to trace a number and find out who he was in contact with in Hawaii but all they find is a dead undercover CIA Agent, who Max (Masi Oka) discovers was killed by a golden-plated bullet, and an uncooperative CIA supervisor (Glenn Morshower) who can neither confirm or deny whether the victim even worked for the agency. However, Danny is able to learn from a friend (Jack McGee) of the victim that Wo Fat has long been a CIA asset and the dead agent was his connection to the agency.

When the playing carrying McGarrett and Wo Fat is brought down in the jungle with the Yakuza hot on their trail. Before the night is over Kono will have to put her personal feelings aside and Five-0 will find itself in a stand-off with the Yakuza and Adam Noshimuri, who wants Wo Fat dead for murdering his father.

“Ua Hopu” works well, even if it does feel rushed in several spots, and I like that Kono gets an expanded role here, but the suddeness of her relationship with a potential crime boss should have been given more time to develop rather than introduced, discovered, and ended all in the same episode. McGarrett gets his man but we’ll have to wait at least a week for any revelations about Joe White and Shellburne in next week’s season finale.
