Legends of Tomorrow - The Good, The Bad and The Cuddly TV review

Cowboys, Legends, and a giant plushie versus Romans, pirates, demons, and vikings. It must be the season finale. After failing to stop Mallus, the Legends turn tail and run to the Old West hoping to buy enough time to learn how to use the totems together to form Voltron in a Care Bare stare – Nate‘s (Nick Zano) description of Sara‘s (Caity Lotz) plan, not mine. Things are complicated by the arrival of vikings, pirates, and Romans all under Mallus’ control, the death of Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill), and Ray‘s (Brandon Routh) unapproved mission which saves Nora (Courtney Ford) but only because Damien (Neal McDonough) decides to take his daughter’s place as Mallus’ vessel. So, you know, an average Monday for the crew of the Waverider.

Along with returning a few of this season’s various villains under Mallus’ control, the season finale also brings back a few familiar faces in Jonah Hex (Johnathon Schaech), the Themyscira-trained Helen of Troy (Bar Paly), Ava (Jes Macallan), and Jefferson (Franz Drameh) to provide support to the Legends in their final battle against the time demon. In what may be the most Legend episode of Legends of Tomorrow, six members of the crew come together to form a giant Beebo that… hugs Mallus out of existence. It’s kinda awesome.

The episode’s epilogues (and there are several) allow the show to say farewell to a member of their team (again) and give up the totems for future bearers. While it’s likely for the best that the other totems move on from the show I have to say I’m a little disappointed that Mick (Dominic Purcell) was so willing to give up the Fire Totem which seemed to fit so well with his characters. As for Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers), I’m sorry to see her say goodbye to the crew again as it leaves a rather large void for next season which apparently Constantine (Matt Ryan) will try to help fill.
