Lucifer - Sin-Eater

Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and Chloe‘s (Lauren German) latest case sends them after a punisher targeting those who have posted damaging videos on a social media site which have ruined peoples’ lives. At first angered by the competition, and then enamored with the level of vengeance, Lucifer’s true interest in the case comes from his mother (Tricia Helfer) questioning why he feels the need to punish the guilty even after he’s escaped Hell and why he continues to perform the same role God wanted even after escaping to Earth.

The episode’s subplots continue Mum’s failures to work herself into Lucifer’s life. She has greater success with Amenadiel (DB Woodside) whose drunken self-loathing makes him far easier prey. Lucifer’s understanding of himself and his purpose makes his decision on how to punish his mother all too easy. Forcing her to remain on Earth by living the life of the woman whose body she inhabits will not only force her to understand humanity a little better but also get Mum out of his hair (and end the damage her appearances were having on his sex life). As to what the the woman actually wants, other than seeing her sons, and what cost Lucifer (or those closest to him) may have to pay on going against the deal he made with his father, that is still yet to be seen.
