Once Upon a Time - A Bitter Draught

After being mostly absent from the season premiere, “A Bitter Draught” focuses on the Evil Queen‘s (Lana Parrilla) arrival in Storybrooke. Using the Count of Monte Cristo (Craig Horner) in both the present and in flashbacks to try and kill Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin) and David (Josh Dallas), the Evil Queen’s true purpose to corrupt Regina‘s (Parrilla) soul and destroy all the hero’s happy endings by exposing untold stories no one wants told is revealed.

The episode makes an important distinction about the refugees from the Land of Untold Stories. The people from these lands aren’t unknown or forgotten characters but those whose stories have been put on hold and left unfinished… until now. If the Evil Queen is to be believed even those already in Storybrooke have some unfinished stories left to play out. As for Emma (Jennifer Morrison), she continues to struggle with the shakes and visions while fearing that the villain who eventually kills her might be someone the Savior knows.
