Once Upon a Time - Last Rites

Loss is the theme of “Last Rites” as several of the show’s female characters will mourn the loss of a loved one before all is said and done. Returned from the Underworld, Regina (Lana Parrilla) attempts to convince Zelena (Rebecca Mader) of Hades‘ (Greg Germann) true motivations. The cost of doing so will be high for both sisters as both Hades and Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) will meet the same end at the hands of the Olympian Crystal which not only kills its victims but removes them from existance all-together.

With only two episodes in the season remaining, both Regina and Zelena stand on a perilous cliff. With Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle) grabbing more power for himself you have to wonder will recent events force other former villains to return to form. Although loss is the common theme of the episode, and Emma (Jennifer Morrison) struggles against grieving over Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) remaining trapped in the Underworld – where he makes a key contribution to the defeat of Hades, the heroes do get some good news as the pirate’s heroics earn him special consideration from Zeus (David Hoflin) and a return to Storybrooke.

I liked Hades but the Underworld story never clicked. Hope next year is better.
