Reese (Jim Caviezel) takes the job as the driver for a fixer (Paige Turco) whose number has come up. When she’s asked to retrieve a recording of an affair by shady businessman (Tim Guinee) she uncovers far more than she bargained for and puts both of their lives in danger.

What the record holds isn’t evidence of an affair but the murder of a researcher (Tim Guinee) who uncovered the deadly properties of the pharmacological company’s next big moneymaker. When the researcher couldn’t be bought off she was silenced, permanently.

The episode has a slightly different dynamic than usual given the person Reese sets out to save has her own skill set that compliments his rather well. I don’t know if the show plans to return Turco’s character, but she might be an interesting recurring role to pop up from time to time.

Finch (Michael Emerson) is also more personally involved in the case this time around once the death of the researcher (a number the machine gave him before he and Reese started working together) becomes connected to the case. Without taking any physical action he’s able to do more harm to the head of the pharmacological company (Brian Murray) than Reese ever could.

The episode’s B-story involves Detective Carter’s (Taraji P. Henson) search into the missing files stolen from police lockup when the lead suspect in the old case turns up dead. I’m sure it helps move an on-going story forward but it’s far less interesting than the main story, even if it is fun to see Dan Hedaya in a guest-role as a former police detective.
