Star Wars Rebels - Empire Day

Spending Empire Day on his homeworld of Lothal brings back painful memories for Ezra (Taylor Gray) and reveals a bit of the street urchin’s past to his crew mates in a well-executed manner that helps to explain Ezra’s difficulty connecting and trusting others. The date, which also happens to be the kid’s birthday, is a painful reminder of the Empire abducting his parents for their subversive efforts to fight back against the oppressive regime.

“Empire Day” also gives the crew of the Ghost the opportunity to make the Empire look foolish by destroying a TIE Advanced fighter during the parade and helping to locate a childhood friend of Ezra’s who Imperial agents are scouring the city for, and with good reason as the Rodan’s implant contains Imperial secrets priceless to the Rebellion. Managing to sneak Tseebo off-world, which includes taking on both Kallas (David Oyelowo) and The Inquisitor (Jason Isaacs), ends in a cliffhanger with the fate of the crew and their new passenger very much in doubt.
