The Blacklist - Susan Hargrave

Narrowing down the list of people who attempted to abduct Lizzie (Megan Boone) to a single name, Reddington (James Spader) targets the business of one-time friend Susan Hargrave (Famke Janssen) in an attempt to bring her out of hiding. It takes more than one prick before security company’s head agrees to a meeting (one that, of course, was meant to be a trap for Red), but eventually Reddington gets his sit-down with the woman whose agents and their actions lead to the death of Elizabeth Keen.

After teasing us last week that Janseen was playing Elizabeth Keen’s super-spy mother, the show quickly dumps the possibility in naming her character as Susan Hargraves. Despite a past relationship between Red and Hargraves, the woman had no doubts about taking a job which would put her at war with Raymond Reddington (hardly a smart business move). The result of the episode is the set-up of next week’s penultimate episode of the season and the reveal of the name of the man who hired Hargraves and her mercenary army: Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen).
