Voltron - Kral Zera television review

Named after the ceremony to choose the next emperor of the Galra Emprire, “Kral Zera” continues to build tension between Shiro (Josh Keaton) and Allura (Kimberly Brooks) as the Paladin takes Lotor (A.J. LoCascio) and the Black Lion to the ceremony to help their new ally win the throne. The situation is further complicated by the arrival of Keith (Steven Yeun) and two other members of the Blade of Marmora whose attempt to bomb the proceedings drive an already contententious group into full-scale battle with one another. Carnage and chaos ensues, including Keith being saved by an unlikely ally.

The episode ends with Lotor winning the throne but still plenty of questions about just how much of the Galra Empire will choose to follow him or if the empire is indeed as shattered as Haggar (Cree Summer) suggests. As for Shiro and Allura, we don’t see the pair together following Lotor’s victory. It will be interesting to see the fallout of Shiro’s actions going forward and what that might mean for the team’s chemistry (which, as we learned in the show’s First Season, is a necessary ingredient to form Voltron).
