Beauty and the Beast – Pilot

beauty-and-the-beast-2012-pilot

The CW’s Beauty and the Beast is based loosely, very loosely, on the late 1980’s CBS show of the same name that starred Linda Hamilton as New York Assistant District Attorney Catherine Chandler and Ron Perlman as Vincent, the noble beast whom she fell in love with. Created by Ron Koslow, the 80’s show was a fairy tale love story between a spoiled rich girl turned crusader after a vicious attack and the man who became her protector. The show was filled with some terrific costume and set design including the world of “Down Below” where Vincent lived with outcasts from above. Did I mention how little the new version mirrors the original?

G.I. JOE #18

gijoe-18-coverThe war between Cobra and the ninja clan Arashikage heats up as the Joes discover their former teammate Snake Eyes is alive and leading his former clan in a bloody war against Cobra.

This issue kicks off the new G.I. JOE / Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow crossover pitting the most famous Joe against not only Cobra but his friends as well. Realizing how dangerous Snake Eyes could become if he ever turned the clan’s attention to the Joes, Scarlett gathers the troops to take on one of their own.

There’s a heated discussion among the Joes over the logic of attempting to fight someone like Snake Eyes who always has his own hidden agenda and may be playing both Cobra and Arashikage against each other for the world’s benefit.

We also get Serpentor‘s growing frustration with his attempts to bloody the Arashikage and break the Soft Master and tons of action including Snake Eyes leading a bloody attack on Vendri Corporate Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. Worth a look.

It’s Always Sunny – Pop-Pop: The Final Solution

its-always-sunny-pop-pop-the-final-solution

I have a confession to make. Although I loved the first few seasons of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia I haven’t been a regular viewer for at a couple of years now. Setting down to watch the Eighth Season premiere it was obvious not much has changed. The Paddy crew are still despicable human beings making awful, awful decisions (which are sometimes very, very funny).
