News and Notes – DC Nation pulled from Cartoon Network

Without warning or any announcement to viewers Cartoon Network pulled new episodes of Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice (along with new DC Nation animated shorts) only three weeks into the new seasons of each show in favor of reruns of Johnny Test and episodes of the network’s new show Dragons: Riders of Berk.

At the time of this posting none of the official sites (including Cartoon Network’s homepage, the DC Nation homepage, or DC Comics’ homepage) had any acknowledgement or explanation for the last-minute change. In fact Cartoon Network’s official page for Green Lantern: The Animated Series still has the show’s schedule listed at 10/9 Central on Saturday mornings. According to Rising Sun Tokusatsu the DC Nation block was quietly removed from Cartoon Network’s schedule at 1AM Saturday morning for at least the rest of October.

Fatale #8

fatale-8-coverThe latest issue of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillip’s Fatale gives us an interlude, a calm before the storm, and we catch up with Nicolas Lash who continues to run for his life.

Lash’s recent run-ins with the cult, his growing paranoia, and another attack on his life shake free cobwebs in his brain and the man remembers the first time he ever met Josephine which was far, far earlier than Dominic’s funeral. And a night of failed passion leaves him close to answers but also with a bump on the head and missing Dominic Hank Raines‘ stolen manuscript.

Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, Josephine begins a relationship with B-movie star Miles against her better judgement and waits for the other shoe to drop now the cult knows she’s alive and where to find her as Mr. Bishop prepares to take his revenge. If you aren’t reading noir horror tale, you should be. Worth a look.

Nashville – Pilot

  • Title: Nashville – Pilot

Providing us a set-up not all that dissimilar to Country Strong (minus the trip to rehab and with a hearty extra helping of soap opera suds), the “Pilot” episode of Nashville stars Connie Britton as fading country music legend Rayna Jaymes who is offered an ultimatum by her record label. If she wants their continued support of her flagging album they want Rayna to agree to share the spotlight with popular but bitchy teen sensation Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) by opening for Barnes on a combined tour.
