Captain Gregson (Aidan Quinn) calls in Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) to consult on a case involving a man murdered and robbed on returning home. Holmes quickly identifies the man’s neighbor as the thief, but the identity of the murderer takes a little more time. While Gregson’s junior detective (Jon Michael Hill) is perfectly willing to lay the murder at the feet of the opportunistic neighbor, Holmes believes a woman is responsible, even if she was in a coma when the crime occurred.

Fairest #8

fairest-8-coverI thoroughly enjoyed last month’s issue of Fables starring film noir versions of Beauty and the Beast, so I was a little sad to see the series move on to a new arc so soon. That said, I can say the first issue of this new Rapunzel storyline by Lauren Beukes and artist Inaki Miranda is worth picking up.

Rapunzel receives a deadly message in Japanese delivered by flying paper cranes that confirms, as she always believed, tha her lost children are still alive. Unable to convince Snow White or Bigby, Rapunzel has no choice but to set out on her Jack Horner and here barber Joel Crow (that hair isn’t going to cut itself) to see where the mystery will lead.

The fact that she’s even willing to go to Frau Totenkinder, the witch who stole her for her golden hair and raised her as her own, only proves how desperate and determined Rapunzel is to find her missing children. Fairest #8 does a great job at introducing the cast of characters for this new arc and laying down the quest, and lengths Rapunzel will go to fulfill it. Best of the week.

Rachel tries to help drag Finn out of his funk by helping him find a new dream in New York, but shadowing his former fiance around her glamorous new life only convinces Finn there is no place for him in it. Kurt (Chris Colfer) struggles balancing his new job at Vogue and trying to keep up his relationship with Blaine (Darren Criss) who shows up in New York for a quick visit two weeks early.

News and Notes

Katee SackhoffVariety is reporting that Katee Sackhoff has signed on to join Gina Carano in the proposed, but yet to be named, all-female Expendables-style film

The Wrap is reporting that CBS is looking to adapt the largely forgettable Bad Teacher into a series. The 2011 film starred Cameron Diaz as a horrible teacher more concerned with raising money for a boob job and tricking rich men into marriage than her students (or anything going on in her classroom)
