23 year-old Ashley Benson is Seventeen again

23 year-old Ashley Benson is Seventeen againPretty Little Liars and Spring Breakers star Ashley Benson is Seventeen Magazine’s March cover girl. In the interview the actress discusses how proud she is of her role in Spring Breakers and what a big change the role was for her as well as co-stars Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens.

Benson also discusses wearing a bathing suit for nearly the entire movie shoot, her parody video of Justin Bieber‘s “Boyfriend” with Spring Breakers co-star James Franco (which apparently Mr. Bieber wasn’t too fond of), her quest to find Pretty Little Liars co-star Shay Mitchell a boyfriend, learning to become comfortable in her own skin, and her hopes to one day win an Oscar. Scarlet Spider #15

Scarlet Spider #15Thankfully the Kaine evil super-spider creature storyline comes to a quick end with Scarlet Spider #15. By the end of the comic things are pretty much back to normal with the former assassin restored to his human form and still unsure if his new role of hero truly suits him.

There’s plenty of action here, including the Kaine creature ripping off one of the arms of Carlos Lobo in order to save Aracely from the werewolves. It’s a little unclear whether Aracely somehow mystically causes him to revert back to normal or if her words cause Kaine to consciously return to form.

Other than adding new enemies for Scarlet Spider, this short arc merely restated the comic’s main theme (hero or killer) that’s so ingraned in the series it really didn’t need to be reintroduced so forcefully. I’m glad human Kaine is back, but far less sure of the Vertigo-esque path the comic appears to be going down (which, from comic’s last few pages, looks sure to continue in the coming months). Hit-and-Miss.

News and Notes

bruce-timm-jlu-newsComic Book Resources is reporting Bruce Timm is stepping down as supervising producer at Warner Bros. Animation. Timm has been a guiding force behind DC Animation for decades begining with providing nearly all the designs for the look, style, and characters of Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, and Justice League. Although DC has moved increasingly away from his style in recent years (a style I would love to see flourish in comics), Timm has continued to produce DC’s animated films and series including Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Justice League: Doom, Batman: Year One, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part I and Part II, All-Star Superman, and Batman: Under the Red Hood.
