Lucifer - Anything Pierce Can Do I Can Do Better television review

It’s been a common theme of Lucifer that people, angels, demons, immortal cursed beings, and devils don’t always make the best choices. After discovering he is mortal but no longer wants to die, Pierce (Tom Welling) decides to try and win back Chloe (Lauren German) which pushes Lucifer (Tom Ellis) to try and out-do Pierce at every turn. Attempting not to win Chloe’s heart but instead belittle her other suitor at every turn, the result leads to only making Chloe more frustrated and ultimately making a rather rash decision concerning the man who first chooses to open his heart up to her.

Lost in Space - Diamonds in the Sky television review

While there’s not much plot that plays out in “Diamonds in the Sky,” the episode does feature some strong character moments and a couple of revelations. Will (Maxwell Jenkins) makes a startling discovery about his new best friend, a discovery he’ll end up getting over fairly quickly and decide to keep from the rest of his family. Judy’s (Taylor Russell) recent brush with death leaves her a bit shaky, allowing the more spirited Penny (Mina Sundwall) to save her parents and Will before the get caught in a deadly storm. I’m liking the younger daughter more here, although I can’t say the same about the bickering parents.

Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War movie review2012’s The Avengers brought together all the elements from the planned Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was a payoff movie, and one that was executed brilliantly by Joss Whedon. It also gave us the first on-screen appearance of Thanos (now played by Josh Brolin) whose foreshadowed war on the universe would be put on hold for several years. Until now. Since The Avengers, too many of the Marvel movies have been forced into world building while telling their story. For the first time in years, there is no horizon which frees sreenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and directors the Russo Brothers to simply tie the elements together as Whedon did six years ago and tell one hell of a story. And you know what? They do a damn good job.

With some notable exceptions (Natalie Portman, Jeremy Renner, Paul Rudd, and Marvel is still completely ignoring their television properties) everyone is on hand to deal with the threat of Thanos who finally gets around to collecting the Infinity Stones which will allow him to complete his life-long quest of killing off half the lives across the universe with the snap of his fingers.

Supergirl - In Search of Lost Time TV review

The common theme of loss of control plays out in both storylines of “In Search of Lost Time.” M’yrnn‘s (Carl Lumbly) mental deterioration begins to effect those closest to him when the Martian’s mental exercises begin pushing out intensive emotional waves that turn DEO coworkers against each other and Suprgirl (Melissa Benoist) against Mon-El (Chris Wood). Speaking of Mon-El, the episode gives us the first look at his Legion super-hero suit (not too shabby) along with some cape training with Kara (which, while effective, still looks pretty damn goofy). Although the psychic blast pushes Kara into letting out some aggression on her former boyfriend, it also appears to have finally cleared the air between the two, and just in time because it appears the third Kryptonian threat has finally decided to make an appearance.
