Lost in Space - Infestation television review

The series third episode sticks to form as the Robinsons encounter a new threat which they overcome in the final few minutes. The latest calamity, caused by Penny‘s (Mina Sundwall) rash actions to save her family in the previous episode finds the crew’s ship sinking under the cracking ice. If that wasn’t enough, the ships engines are inoperable and the fuel is slowly being eaten by space snakes (which turn out be pretty cool). With his robot going to extremes to protect Will (Maxwell Jenkins), the question of how it senses different types of threats is still pretty unclear, the rest of the family sets about attempting to solve the problem which Dr. Smith (Parker Posey) considers leaving the family to die, but (going against type, for reasons that aren’t exactly clear) decides to stick things out for the last-second save.

Guilty Pleasure – Hard to Kill

Hard to Kill movie reviewToday’s Throwback Tuesday post takes us back to 1990 and the ouvere of action star Steven Seagal. For me, Hard to Kill fits firmly into the category of a guilty pleasure. Objectively it’s hard to argue that Hard to Kill is anywhere near a great movie, but damn if I haven’t had a great time with every viewing.

Easily my favorite of Seagal’s career, the actor stars as cop whose family is attacked in their home after he stumbles onto a conspiracy involving a politician and local mob boss. After being in a coma for seven years, with his reputation shredded and wife dead, Mason Storm returns to the land of the living to clear his name and seek vengeance for his family.

Usagi Yojimbo: The Hidden #3

Usagi Yojimbo: The Hidden #3 comic reviewWhile continuing to investigate the murder of two strangers to the city they have now identified as Christians, Inspector Ishida and Miyamoto Usagi discover from a local street urchin that the shogun’s men are combing the city for something one of the victims had in his possession at the time of his death. Still unaware of what they are looking for, or the motive for the crime, the pair go in search of the thief that looted the body before the shogun’s men could claim their prize.

The first stop on their list is the local fence Master Win who has the box in his collection but not its contents. When the the fence refuses to offer any insight to where he acquired the object, Usagi offers some proper motivation by playing the fool and making vague threats towards the rest of the man’s collection which will eventually lead them to the thief, Oda. However, there are those who want the prize for themselves and don’t want either Ishida or Usagi uncovering any more of the mystery.

The Flash - We are the Flash television review

With the Enlightenment about to begin, Team Flash races to save the world in the show’s Fourth Season finale. For the Flash (Grant Gustin), that means entering DeVoe‘s (Neil Sandilands) mind while the rest of the team, with the help of Marlize (Kim Engelbrecht), attempt to stay hidden from the maniacal super-genius in order for Barry to pull a last-second save. Marlize’s help, and the reveal of Jessica Parker Kennedy as Barry and Iris‘s (Candice Patton) future daughter come as no big surprise. The return of Ralph (Hartley Sawyer), who Barry finds trapped in DeVoe’s mind, proves to be the real key to stopping the villain as Ralph reasserts control of his body. For a season that has spent many, many hours on setting Ralph Dinby as a character, it is nice to see him get his moment.
