It’s been awhile since we’ve done this, but in our look back on the year that was 2013 I decided I was going to revive the Semi-Annual Razorblade Awards for the most memorable (and truly awful) films, performances, and moments we were subjected to this past year. The Razorblade recognizes the only thing which could save the moviegoers from the sheer amount of suckage they were forced to witness by letting audiences slit their wrists.

Earlier today members of the Kansas City Film Critic Circle gathered to cast our ballots for the 47th Annual Loutzenhiser Awards. 12 Years a Slave was the big winner taking home awards for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and (in one of two ties this year) Steve McQueen shares the Robert Altman Award for Achievement in Directing with Alfonso Cuarón for Gravity. Gravity‘s other win was for Sandra Bullock‘s Best Actress winning performance. Her took home a pair of wins for Best Original Screenplay and The Vincent Koehler Award for Outstanding Science Fiction, Fantasy or Horror Film. Sorry folks, but I’m fighting off a nasty cold that’s really knocked me out. It may take a couple of days, but there will be some new reviews on the way after I get back on my feet.

We had a slight weapons malfunction, but uh… everything’s perfectly all right now. We’re fine. We’re all fine here now, thank you. How are you?

As you may have noticed we’ve been offline for the better part of a week. When our server went down last Tuesday RF ran into a little bit of difficulty as one of tables was corrupted and made it impossible to immediately bring the site back up. It’s taken a little while but (thanks to the tireless efforts of a certain ‘monkey from dadsbigplan) we’re back up and running, and over the next couple of days you’ll see some changes to the site’s layout as we take this opportunity to roll-out the new look for RazorFine Review and make a few other tweaks here and there.
