Castle - In Plane Sight

While “In Plane Sight” is admittedly a bit of a gimmick episode, there’s quite a bit to enjoy as Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Alexis (Molly C. Quinn) find themselves 30,000 feet in the air aboard a plane with a killer whose ultimate agenda remains unclear. Aboard a transatlantic flight Castle’s help in enlisted by the flight crew after the search for a missing air marshal leads to the discovery of the man’s body in the plane’s cargo hold.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Ten #14

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Ten #14To find Spike‘s connection with the vampire whose recent kills Spike has been witnessing in his dreams Buffy takes a tour of her lover’s subconscious. Although I expected the answer to Spike’s memories of the killings to be a callback to “Somnambulist,” the truth is the exact opposite. In this case Spike isn’t viewing the killings of someone he sired but the vampire who sired his entire line beginning with The Master.

With the introduction of Archaeus the latest season of Buffy begins delving into the subject of siring vampires and introduces the idea of an ancient creature such as Archaeus leaving a piece of himself, connecting him to every vampire of his line.

Along with the introduction of the new big bad, Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Ten #14 gives us Buffy snooping through Spike’s mind finding both beauty and horror before confronting Archaeus whose connection to Spike makes him a serious threat to Buffy in more ways than one. Worth a look.

[Dark Horse, $3.50]

Once Upon a Time - Lily

Road trip! The aptly-named episode introduces us to the adult version of Lily (Agnes Bruckner) for the first time as Maleficent (Kristin Bauer van Straten) hires Emma (Jennifer Morrison) to find her long lost daughter. Needing Emma’s help dealing with Zelena (Rebecca Mader) and reclaiming Robin (Sean Maguire), Regina (Lana Parrilla) tags along as Emma’s old friend proves less than excited at the reunion (and knows far more about her past than Emma suspects). In an episode that also explains more of the girls’ troubled history together, Emma is tempted by Lily’s rage to take drastic action to protect her family but narrowly sidesteps a rash action hasting her journey into darkness thanks in large part to Regina’s intervention.
