Smallville - Shimmer

Smallville Saturday takes us back to the time Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum) had a stalker and an invisible attack roamed the halls of Smallville High School and the Luthor Mansion. Amy Palmer (Azura Skye) was the daughter of Lex’s maid and butler with a major crush on Lex. Awkward and lonely, Amy doesn’t take well to Victoria Hardwick‘s (Kelly Brook) addition to the household and throughout the episode we’ll see attacks on Victoria and those at the school who give Amy a hard time. Our invisible attacker, however, is revealed not to be Amy but her even creepier and overprotective brother Jeff (Birkett Turton) who discovered he extract the oil from meteor-infected roses to create a cream which could make him invisible.

Smallville Saturday takes us back to another kind of threat for Clark (Tom Welling) when a dirty Metropolis cop (Cameron Dye) discovers his secret and blackmails Clark into helping him. There’s quite a bit happening in the episode, not all of which can actually be resolved before the end including both Martha (Annette O’Toole) and Jonathan (John Schneider) being taken in for questions in a murder investigation based on Phelan‘s frame job that wouldn’t necessarily just immediately work itself out after his complicity in other crimes came to light. Despite that oversight, the episode is a standout of the First Season with Clark facing an entirely different kind of challenge with his powers, and his adoptive parents, being used against him.

Smallville - Jitters

Smallville Saturday takes us back to the time Earl Jenkins (Tony Todd) took hostages at the Smallville plant demanding LuthorCorp fix his deteriorating medical condition he blames on mineral poisoning caused by an explosion at the facility which Lionel Luther (John Glover) covered up. While Earl is correct in all his claims, there’s a lack of evidence to support them. That, and the worsening of his condition, lead to Earl taking matters into his own hands in a desperate search for a possible cure. While the meteor rocks do have an effect on the guest-star of the episode, the differences to the script involving a worker exposed to questionable scientific experiments (and in making Earl a Kent family friend) make it a standout from the other meteor-freaks the show introduced over the first-half of the season, most of whom revel in their new powers.
