XIII‘s Second Season comes to a close with XIII (Stuart Townsend) and Betty (Roxane Mesquida) stranded in China and XIII ordered by President Carrington (Stephen McHattie) to shut down the Chinese controlled HEARPE weapon once and for all. Rendezvousing with Barnabis (Rob Ramsay) in the Yunnan Province, the group uses his expertise to locate Dr. Ming Tang (Kerry Lai Fatt) who offers XIII the best chance to destroy the weapon with a Trojan Barnabis creates to give XIII control of the mainframe, if he can get close enough to upload it.

After XIII (Stuart Townsend), Betty (Roxane Mesquida), and Amos (Greg Bryk) escape The Pit, Victor Gong seals off the district using local law enforcement and dusts the entire area with a chemical weapon known as “Bezerk” designed to increase paranoia, abnormal strength, and agitation in order to cause violence and riots among the targeted population. Trapped in the middle of an entire district out of control, the three try to hold it together long enough to get the antidote and then reach an extraction point.

Following the events of last week’s bizarre episode, XIII (Stuart Townsend) is sent into “The Pit” by Betty (Roxane Mesquida), an underground prison that pits its prisoners in gladiatorial combat to the death, while above ground she and Victor Gong take control of the Xu Corporation. XIII comes across a few familiar faces who Betty has also sentenced to The Pit including Mozambique (Wole Daramola), movie producer Barry Salters (Jason Blicker), Amos (Greg Bryk), Grier (Lisa Berry), and anyone else Betty blames for the hardships of her life. Pitted against each other, not all of them will survive.

“Black Widow” offers a look back at the reasons behind Victor Gong’s (Shannon Kook) transformation into XIII’s (Stuart Townsend) doppelganger one year ago as in the present XIII goes through the reverse procedure and is given Victor’s original face even though both M. Pong (Ho Chow) and Ai Ning (Sarah Lian) both know he’s not the real Victor. Meanwhile XIII’s doppelganger and a far more violent Betty (Roxane Mesquida) continue their new partnership which includes making a visit to both M. Pong and Ai Ning and the real Victor takes some vengeance out on his plastic surgeon (Diana Tso).

XIII (Stuart Townsend) awakes in a cargo container on the Chinese docks just outside of Shanghai. His continued survival will depend on convincing the warring factions within Xu Cooperation and the Chinese Government that he’s their agent Victor Gong, beginning by trying to convince Victor’s girlfriend Ai Ning (Sarah Lian). Although M. Pong (Ho Chow) is willing to let “Victor’s” memories come back naturally and lead them to the third and final Tesla letter, government stooge Winslow Wong (Jack Yang) is less patient and far less convinced that Victor is who he says he is.
