Okay, the election isn’t decided yet. But Barack Obama has won a text messaging poll of movie goers who chose him overwhelmingly over John McCain as the candidate they’d like to sit down in a theater with and watch a movie. For more info about the poll and the results after the jump.
Movie watchers close to Olathe, KS may want to mosey on down to AMC Studio 30 for the unveling of their new theater experience. The Grand Opening begins tomorrow and involves a giveaways, a silent auction, live music, and more! I recently toured the newly refurbished wing and I’ll tell you all about it inside.
It’s been awhile since we’ve given out an old fashioned RF Shout Out, but here’s a performance worthy. On last week’s Real Time with Bill Maher, actress Kerry Washington did more than hold her own against Republican panelists Scott McClellan and Lt. Gov. Michael Steele. Smart, well-informed, funny, articulate, sexy as hell, and always bringing the argument back to the issue at hand; she owned that stage Friday night and just knocked my socks off! Check out a little of the video from the episode inside along with some more love for the lovely Miss Washington.
Real Time – On the RNC and “Community Organizer”
Hey there folks! First up, I want to welcome Sarah, a new contributor to the RF family who will be regaling us weekly on Wednesday’s with a look into the world of anime. I don’t know about you, but I can hardly wait for her first essay on tentacle rape (just kidding)! Fans of our sister site DHADM (another world in the Transmuto Multiverse) will no doubt recognize her unique style. What else have we got for you this week you ask? More of trademark goodness including trailers of films today, a look into the world of DVD on Tuesday (with a review of the final season of a certain girl detective from Neptune), Comic craziness on Wednesday, some news and tube fun for you Thursday and new film reviews including Martian Child on Friday. All that and more! Thanks for joining us!
For you Buffy fans around Kansas City this Friday and Saturday night is your chance to sing-a-long with your favorite vampire slayer as “Once More, with Feeling” (the musical episode from Season Six) will be shown on the big screen. The Screenland Granada, in downtown Kansas City, Kansas, is hosting a two night event. Your $12 ticket gets you admission plus a goodie bag and a chance to take part in the Buffy-oke contest to show off their acting chops and trivia knowledge of all things Buffy. For more on the event, including times and theater and ticket information click here.
As we wind down the year over the next week you will start to see our lists for the best (and worst) films and performances of the year. To start things off here are our picks for some of the more memorable and truly awful moments of film we were subjected to this year. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Razorblade Awards.
Pat Morita best known for his role as Mr. Miyagi died yesterday of natural causes in Las Vegas. Morita was 73 years old. For those of my generation Pat Morita will always be remembered as the wise Mr. Myagi of The Karate Kid films, but he actually worked in film and television for forty years on a variety of projects. Other than his role in The Karate Kid Morita is probably best known for his role as Arnold Takahaski on Happy Days.
