Spider-Man: Brand New Day feels like director Destin Daniel Cretton and screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers grabbed everything in the kitchen and blended it together, not sure of how exactly it would turn out. What they deliver is film that needs to both be a new start and a finale for Tom Holland as the Wall-Crawler, that needs to wrap-up the threads left dangling after Spider-Man: No Way Home, open up the Spidey world for several existing Marvel characters including Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), Yelena (Florence Pugh), and Dr. Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), and introduce a key new character pivotal to Marvel’s non-Spidey plans moving forward.

Very much in the vein of Guardians of the Galaxy or Suicide Squad, Thunderbolts* offers the teaming up of lovable losers. In the case of Thunderbolts* (the name of which turns out to be one of the movie’s better jokes), the group are all independent black-ops cleaners for Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) who, while under investigation from Congress about her illegal programs, has had each of them tying up any loose ends that would lead back to her.

We Live in Time is a bit of a throwback, a solid film that shows the formula of throwing together two extremely likable stars and giving them a stage to perform is still a formula for success. For our pairing we get Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh as Tobias and Almut. The film jumps around in non-linear fashion to delve into the pair’s relationship from their cinematic meet-cute (where she literally runs into him with his car) through the ups and downs of their relationship over the years.
