The endless grind of fighting back monsters from other dimensions begins to wear on everyone, especially now that Willow is working with the military (a situation Buffy continues to have problems with). Relying more and more on the Magic Council to fight these battles, Buffy is convinced to adding to their power using the Vampyr tome (likely foreshadowing all new kinds of trouble for the Slayer and her friends down the line).
The other major piece of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Ten #23 deals with Andrew and the recent hauntings of ghost Jonathan. Approached by the Sculptor, who plays on the young man’s guilt, Jonathan is offered a trade: steal Buffy’s Scythe in exchange for the demon crafting Jonathan a new living body. Strongly tempted by the offer, Andrew continues to grow as a character refusing to make new mistakes to make up for his old ones.
In other bits: Dawn seems to be embracing her new life. Buffy and Spike‘s relationship is already starting to show some strain. And, given an offer he couldn’t refuse, Giles decides to leave the realm temporarily for one where his young visage won’t count against him. Worth a look.
