Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #37 comic reviewSent to investigate unauthorized resource exploration in Sector 2811, Hal Jordan and Kyle Rayner get an unpleasant surprise in running into Zod, Ursa, Eradicator, and Lor-Zod who are strip-mining the undeveloped planet. Oh, and they don’t intend to let a pair of Green Lanterns interfere.

There’s plenty of action here including both Hal and Kyle getting beaten to pulp by Zod and his followers. Part One of “Power of Zod” certainly sets up the Kryptonian general as a legitimate threat to the Lanterns and the universe. As to what Zod intends with his new captives, the resources he is collecting, or the plans behind his campaign, it looks like we’ll have to wait for answers.

The comic also offers a look-in to Oa where John Stewart considers resigning from the Corps now that the Guardians of the Universe have returned to lead. Convinced to stay, and prevent the Guardians from repeating mistakes of the past, does this foreshadow trouble ahead for Stewart and his fellow Lanterns? Worth a look.

[DC, $2.99]
