Scorpion - Postcards from the Edge

The first season of Scorpion comes to an end with the crumbling group of geniuses being pulled back together to save the life of Walter (Elyes Gabel) whose survival depends on the team putting their individual issues aside and working together. Picking up from the end of last week’s cliffhanger, the search for the missing genius begins with Happy (Jadyn Wong), Toby (Eddie Kaye Thomas), and Sylvester (Ari Stidham) putting their bickering aside long enough to find Walter’s sports car precariously placed halfway down a cliff-face with their boss inside.

“Postcards from the Edge” develops mostly like any other episode of the series although the other geniuses are forced to pull more of Walter’s weight given his injuries and awkward attempts to say farewell to each member of the team after realizing the slim chances of him making it out of the car alive. The only ones not invovlved in the rescue are Paige (Katharine McPhee) and Ralph (Riley B. Smith) who spend most of the episode oblivious to Walter’s danger while preparing to leave town for the weekend.

As suspected, the finale wraps up the fracturing of the group in short order leaving the team stronger than ever, with Paige choosing to remain with the team (and admit her feelings for Walter – at least to herself), heading into next year. The only plot thread left up in the air is the future of Cabe (Robert Patrick) whose resignation from Homeland Security nearly bites the group in the ass while trying to save Walter. Does Cabe fight to get his job back? Does the team return to work as consultants for the U.S. Government? Or do they collectively accept the private offer from their new billionaire friend and move forward in a slightly different direction?
