The Flash - Fallout

“Fallout” serves two purposes as the latest episode of The Flash wraps up the Firestorm storyline by decoupling Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell) and Martin Stein (Victor Garber) and removing any doubt to the identity of the Flash‘s (Grant Gustin) arch-villain as Barry learns a troubling truth that he will travel back in time to save his mother… and fail.

As teased in the final scene of last week’s episode, the explosion the separated Raymond from Stein brings in General Wade Eiling (Clancy Brown) who will stop at nothing to recover Firestrom for the U.S. Military including threatening Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) with exposing the Flash’s secret identity. Despite the military’s new tech to specifically deal with the Flash, our hero is able to stop Eiling allowing Wells to take some action of his own by putting on the Reverse-Flash costume and delivering the general to Grodd (who we hear telepathically speak for the first time).

By the end of the episode Stein and Raymond have finally accepted their joined nature (even when separated) and journey together to learn how to control their new power and stay one-step ahead of the U.S. Military. We don’t get an appearance by Linda Park (Malese Jow) in this episode, but Iris (Candice Patton) recognizing Ronnie as the burning man begins her investigation into S.T.A.R. Labs and their connection to the metahumans popping up all around the city which is likely the first step of her journey to discovering Barry’s secret.
