- Title: The New Scooby-Doo Movies – The Haunted Showboat
- wiki: link
Scooby Saturday takes us back to another mystery involving some meddling kids and their talking dog. Lost on their way to a Tom Sawyer festival, Mystery, Inc. literally run-into Josie and the Pussycats who have been signed up to perform on a riverboat which turns out to be haunted by the ghosts of Captain Scavenger and Injun Joe.
Like many of the team-ups in The New Scooby-Doo Movies, “The Haunted Houseboat” never justifies its double-size, stretching a threadbare mystery too far. While Melody (Jackie Joseph) cracks bad jokes, Valerie (Barbara Pariot), Fred (Frank Welker), and Daphne (Heather North) attempt to get the ship back in working order, and Sebastian pulls pranks, Scooby-Doo (Don Messick) and Shaggy (Casey Kasem) find a fellow coward in Alexander (Sherry Alberoni).
For fans of Josie and the Pussycats, there’s some fun in seeing the characters, although the writers are far more interested in the conniving antics of Alexandra (Sherry Alberoni) and her cat than Josie (Janet Waldo) who is used so sparingly you may forget she’s even a part of the episode.
