Throwback Tuesday takes us back to the adventures of British spy John Steed (Patrick Macnee) and his various partners. Steed recruits Cathy Gale (Honor Blackman) for what should be a simply handoff at the airport but becomes much more complicated when their contact freaks out on the plane and dies almost immediately after being brought into the terminal.

Written and directed by Robert Towne, 1988’s neo-noir Tequila Sunrise gives us a love triangle between longtime friends in a former drug dealer (Mel Gibson) attempting to go straight, a narcotics cop (Kurt Russell) who fears busting his friend, and restaurant owner (Michelle Pfeiffer) who both fall for. Never quite willing to get bleak or tragic enough to enter true noir territory (partly due to studio interference), the film still makes the most of its stars (even if if this one wouldn’t rank among the best on any of their filmographies).

In an episode that continues Neagley’s (Maria Sten) partnership with Riley (Greyston Holt), while she continues to ignore the work for the firm who is paying for her, we get a flashback to events at the compound which led Tommy Crane (Jhaleil Swaby) to leave, and likely led to his death. In a show centered our central character uncovering the truth, the sequence feels a bit out of place, although honestly it doesn’t provide anything that Neagley won’t eventually work out on her own.

Murder Mystery Monday takes us back to the most famous mystery writer of Cabot Cove. There are times you can really feel an Agathe Christie influence in Murder, She Wrote, and “Funeral at Fifty-Mile” certainly qualifies. In Wyoming to attend the death of an old friend, Jessica Fletcher (Angela Lansbury) stumbles on another murder of a man who seemingly everyone had a reason to kill but few had the means and opportunity to do so.
