While celebrating the one-year (and one-week) anniversary of News Night 2.0 with the entire crew in Will’s (Jeff Daniels) apartment Charlie (Sam Waterston) gets an unexpected phone-call tipping him off that big news is about to break from the White House. Within a couple of hours everyone is taxied back to the offices to prepare for President Obama’s speech that they think, but are unable to prove, is the announcement that America has killed Osama Bin Laden.

Daredevil #16

daredevil-16-coverRarely have a seen a comic start so well and fall so far so quickly. In the first two-thirds of Daredevil #16 writer Mark Waid delivers a terrific story of Iron Man, Dr. Strange, and Henry Pym trying to save a comatose Daredevil the Nanobots implanted in his brain in Latveria.

Pym, shrunk-down, inserted into Murdock’s brain, attempts to destroy the Nanobots loose in Daredevil’s mind, but what makes the storyline work so well is the odd nature of Matt Murdock’s gift that causes both Pym and Murdock’s feeling, senses, and memories to start blurring between them. Aside from being a really cool story, it’s nice way to save the Latverian arc which was drawn out far too long.

However, the final third of the story (teased on the cover) makes so little sense I don’t know where to begin. On arriving back at his office Murdock is confronting by Foggy who dissolves their partnership after finding the bones of Murdock’s father in his desk drawer.

Leverage - The Complete 4th SeasonThe Fourth Season of Leverage saw one of the crew being buried alive, murder, complicated cons, and the return of several characters including Sterling (Mark Sheppard), Jimmy Ford (Tom Skerritt), Hurley (Drew Powell), Tara (Jeri Ryan), and in the season finale Parker’s mentor (Richard Chamberlain), Wil Wheaton, Kari Matchett, Clayne Crawford, and Saul Rubinek as the man who put the team together – Victor Dubenich.

Highlights from a very strong season include breaking into United States Patent Office, Hardison (Aldis Hodge) taking the lead in a complicated con involving buried treasure in tunnels underneath Portland, a gang of female grifters led by Emma Caulfield hunting wealthy men, a trip to Dubai to help out Sterling (who, of course, double-crosses them), the takedown of a renown con man (David Rees Snell), the crew getting used to Nate (Timothy Hutton) and Sophie (Gina Bellman) as a couple, the cast playing other characters in a flashback episode to the 1940’s, and Parker and Hardison finally sorta admitting their feelings to each other.

However, when Parker (Beth Riesgraf) and Hardison’s (Aldis Hodge) attempt to retrieve the files comes up empty Nate (Timothy Hutton) comes up with a back-up plan – to make the man believe he has made first contact with aliens.
