Throwback Tuesday takes us back more than seven decades into a futurist world of robots and murder. The first of the Robot novels, and the first full-length robot novel written by Isaac Asimov, The Caves of Steel offered the author an opportunity to meld detective and science fiction while exploring sociological elements of an overcrowded future version of Earth where humanity lived underneath the surface in great domes giving the novel its name.

Throwback Tuesday takes us back to another adventure of the Archaeologists of the Impossible. In Planetary #2, Elijah Snow,  Jakita Wagner, and the Drummer head to the far northwestern tip of the Japanese archipelago ruled off limit to all (under the guise of a territorial dispute between Russia and Japan). An unhinged militant radical novelist and his acolytes have set foot on what is known as Island Zero and Planetary is sent to clean up the mess as, you see, Island Zero is home to the remains of kaiju – a fact which has been kept from the rest of the world for decades.

Campbell Scott stars as an expert who is putting the finishing touches on a “process” (the details of which are kept vague). What we do know is the company he has created it for stands to make out huge and others, knowing of its worth, want it as well.

The Lazarus Project - Episode 12

Having successfully time jumped, but ending up further back in time than they planned. By the end of the episode the team has what it needs to attempt another time travel jump and get about their mission. However, temporarily stuck where they are provides some members of the group the change to reexamine their past. Archie (Anjli Mohindra) begins looking into the secret job Ross (Brian Gleeson) did, even confronting him about it pretending to be her younger self. Meanwhile, George (Paapa Essiedu) attempts to prove to Sarah (Charly Clive) that they were always meant for each other returning to the party with each interacting with the younger versions of each other on the night they met. While self-contained, almost a little bottle show outside of the events of the season, there’s plenty of interesting pieces to the episode allowing the longer storyline to pick up in the next episode.
