Secret Six #6

Apparently ending the comic’s short run, Secret Six #6 ends with more of a whimper than a bang confirming this series was always more about setting up storylines for Jon Kent and his friends then highlighting the Secret Six or bringing them back to the DCU in any real way. The finale does have a nice moment between Catman and Kent showcasing the different ways the two view the world and we get more of Black Alice powered up, and more infighting within the group, but in the end the climax of the story doesn’t involve these characters at all as everything boils down to Gossamer and his feelings of betrayal towards both his boyfriend and Dreamer.

Usagi Yojimbo: Ten Thousand Plums concludes with the second-half of “Tabo” which opens with Miyamoto Usagi, Yukichi, and the pilgrims running into further resistance on their way to the shrine. It’s hard not to feel a bit of current events creeping in to the story with the anti-immigrant guards attempting to keep out undesirables. The ronin manage to quicky convince the men, one of whom Usagi notices as one of the bandits who have attacked the pilgrims on the trail, the error of their own ways.
