Darth Vader #28

Darth Vader #28 is an odd comic. In what felt like the natural conclusion to the Sabé arc, instead we get a confrontation between the former Handmaiden and the Emperor, without any payoff either way halfway through the comic, before shifting gears in lightspeed directly into Sabé and Vader continuing to work together on a new mission. I certainly understand wanting to milk more out of the character’s appearance, but the choices here don’t so much subvert the narrative as make an unexpected U-turn into oncoming traffic.

Moon Knight #16

Looking for allies and information about the Tutor and the vampire’s operation, Moon Knight sits down with rival vampire Lady Yulan. Although far from friendly, the conversation does result in some information for our hero such as insight as to why the Tutor feels threatened by Moon Knight and an opportunity Moon Knight may have to finish the vendetta once and for all.

Fables #156

Another of the wolf children’s adventures comes to a close as Connor finally has enough of spite and racism of his would-be mentor choosing instead to befriend another wanderer the pair cross paths with in the forest. And so it’s Old Sam who the cub brings home with him. Speaking of those returning home, Blossom returns home with a new boyfriend, and Ambrose makes plans for the library he found on his adventure.

Set in England at the tail end of 1979, the first issue of Hellboy in Love features an archeologist named Anastacia who was robbed by goblins while transporting valuable artifacts bound for the British Museum. Thankfully, the B.P.R.D. put Hellboy on the train, which the goblins have been robbing on a regular basis, for protection.
