More Shakespearean tragedy than super-hero film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever wears its bruised heart on its sleeve mourning the loss of King T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman). Taking the idea of arrive late, leave early, to extreme, we open with the death of T’Challa (off-camera and from causes never fully explored). After glimpses of his funeral, we advance a full year to look in at the state of his family and his country in the world still mourning their lost hero.

See How They Run

See How They Run isn’t a perfect film, but there’s plenty of fun to be had in the period murder mystery where all the suspects are actors, producers, and theater owners tied to a live performance of the genre where the victim is killed backstage. The semi-aware whodunit, set in London just after the 100th performance of Agatha Christie‘s (Shirley Henderson) The Mousetrap, involves the murder of the dickish director (Adrien Brody) planning on adapting the beloved stage play to film.

James Cameron‘s Avatar hit theaters a week before Christmas of 2009 and quickly claimed a spot on my list of best films of that year. With the first of its long-overdue sequels finally making its way to theaters this winter, Avatar returns to theaters in hopes of rekindling the magic movie goers discovered more than a dozen years ago. While it wasn’t the best film that year, it’s one of the most watchable, and I’ve returned to Avatar multiple times over the years always being entertained.
