From Stephen Chow (Shaolin Soccer, Kung Fu Hustle) comes this comedic take on the classic Chinese tale Journey to the West featuring a Buddhist (Zhang Wen) and demon hunter (Qi Shu) battling evil and facing the Monkey King (Bo Huang). After opening in China last February, Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons will finally make it to the United States in limited release in select cities on March 7th.
I’m going to withhold judgment on this new CGI version of the Powerpuff Girls until the holiday special premieres on January 20th but this little teaser doesn’t inspire much confidence (especially after learning the characters’ creator Craig McCracken was not involved in any aspect of its creation).
