With the permission of Warner Bros., show creator Rob Thomas and star Kristen Bell are looking for fan support to help pull off a Veronica Mars movie just in time for Ms. Mars 10th high school reunion. If the $2,000,000 goal is reached Thomas plans to go into production as soon as schedule conflicts allow and have the movie available for release by summer of next year. UPDATE: The film raised their $2 million goal in less than 11 hours, shattering all Kickstarter records but is still accepting donations to maximize their ability to put out the best film possible.

We’ve been hearing about director Joss Whedon‘s pet project, a new adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing featuring several Whedon regulars, for more than a year now. Filmed in black and white at Whedon’s home over twelve days, the film stars Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof as Beatrice and Benedick. Nathan Fillion, Clark Gregg, Reed Diamond, Jillian Morgese, Fran Kranz, Sean Maher, Spencer Treat Clark, Ashley Johnson, and Riki Lindhome also star. Whedon’s take on Shakespeare will finally open in theaters on June 21st.

A new full-length trailer for Iron Man 3 has arrived featuring Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) trying to protect the woman he loves (Gwyneth Paltrow) and the planet from a terrorist known as the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley). A couple of points: 1) I’m pretty mixed on the look of the Iron Patriot on screen, 2) The Mandarin without his magic rings sounds pretty unimpressive, and 3) Why does Iron Man’s armor look worse instead of better in each successive film? Who designed this look, DC’s New 52? Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Don Cheadle, Jon Favreau, William Sadler, and James Badge Dale also star. Iron Man 3 opens in theaters on May 3rd.
