From director Sam Raimi comes this tale of a small time Kansas magician (James Franco) who finds himself miraculous transported to the magic Land of Oz whose inhabitants lavish riches on him and expect the wizard to save them from the Wicked Witch. Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, Abigail Spencer, Tony Cox, and Joey King also star. Oz: The Great and Powerful opens in theaters on March 8th.
Based on the post-apocalyptic horror novel by Max Brooks, Brad Pitt stars as a United Nations employee who is trying to protect his family and stop the outbreak of the zombie apocalypse. Mireille Enos, Eric West, Matthew Fox, James Badge Dale, and David Morse also star. World War Z hits theaters on June 21st.
Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as a sheriff for a small town on the Mexican border who is the last person between aan escaped drug lord (Eduardo Noriega) on the run from the FBI and freedom. Forest Whitaker, Rodrigo Santoro, Jaimie Alexander, Genesis Rodriguez, Johnny Knoxville, Zach Gilford, Luis Guzmán, and Harry Dean Stanton also star. The Last Stand races into theaters on January 18th.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, Little Miss Sunshine) has been selected to write the script for Star Wars: Episode VII
TV Line is reporting Kristen Bell, who has been providing the narration for Gossip Girl since it premiered in 2007, will finally be making an on-camera appearance in the show’s final episode which airs on December 17th
Today’s issue of Action Comics #14 (entitled “Star Light, Star Bright”) features an appearance by world-renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson who shows up to help Superman discover the true location of his home planet of Krypton. Applying real science to the character’s comic book legend Tyson discovered a “red dwarf star designated for having the ability to support a Krypton-like planet is located in the constellation Corvus 27.1 light years from Earth.”
This means, beginning today, and following the coordinates supplied by Tyson, any amateur astronomer can find the little spec of light in the sky known as Krypton. For more you can find the full press release inside.
