Set in the world of Merry Little Batman, Bat-Fam is the goofiest attempt at a Batman series since the late 60s that seems to be aiming for the Teen Titans Go! audience. The first episode of the series involves Damian‘s (Yonas Kibreab) attempts to win over Wayne Manor’s latest resident 12 year-old former super-villain Claire Selton (Haley Tju). The two bond over the arrival of Alicia Pennyworth (London Hughes) whose business dealings with super-villains Claire finds suspicious.

Returning from a romantic weekend together, Cassandra (Kristin Kreuk) has an unexpectedly productive meeting with the Mayor (Marcia Gay Harden) whose troubled son looks to an ongoing problem, and, with the help of Holly (Dakota Guppy), who finds more examples, she continues to investigate more into the odd case of the same flowers being left over the years on graves and the site of the death (also leading her to reexamine the death of a friend in high school). Neither the larger case nor concern over the Mayor’s son is shared with her boyfriend, leaving both subplots to perculate over the remainder of the season.

The final two episodes of the season focus on Oliver (Martin Short), Charles (Steve Martin), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) solving not one murder but two and also saving their homes from being demolished to build New York City’s first casino. With the help of the robot, the trio is able to learn Lester (Teddy Coluca) killed Nicky (Bobby Cannavale), whose finger was chopped off in the underground speakeasy, and who was responsible for Lester’s death. The finale successfully wraps up the loose ends, and gets our trio out from under the thumbs of the billionaires, while also (as is the show’s custom from the beginning) setting up next season’s murder.
