When CBS decided to add a second remake set in Hawaii it was only a matter of time before we saw a Hawaii Five-0 crossover with Magnum P.I. Magnum (Jay Hernandez) and Higgins (Perdita Weeks) cross paths with Five-0 while searching for a philandering husband on case that involves stolen government secrets being brokered to China. With Magnum offering some back-and-forth with McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin), as the stand-in for the missing Danny (Scott Caan), it’s Higgins connections which prove to have the real payoff for Five-0 in retrieving the list of undercover CIA assets in China.

Throwback Thursday takes us back to the 80s detective show Remington Steele. The latest case sends Steele (Pierce Brosnan) to a medical clinic as an insomnia patient to look into its disappearing morphine supply and a missing physician (who we see murdered in the opening scene). With Laura (Stephanie Zimbalist) installed undercover as the clinic’s new doctor, the pair find the missing doctor’s cadaver along with evidence that seems to point to a narcoleptic (Paul Reiser) who fears he may have done something to the doctor in his sleep.

“It’s a wild world and nobody rides for free.”

Throwback Thursday takes us back to the unsolved crimes of passion in the wealthy playground of Palm Beach, Florida. Things get messy for Chris (Rob Estes) when a high school girlfriend (Kelly Curtis) he just reconnected with turns out to be the prime suspect in the murder of her controlling lover (Lee Benton). Struggling as much with Sarah’s bisexuality as with the possibility that she killed someone in cold blood (and then took him to bed), Chris finds it hard to focus on the case in an episode that pushes Rita (Mitzi Kapture) into the background for the most part (although she is responsible for a rather obvious idea which helps to lead to the true killer).

The Mandalorian – Chapter 1

Title: The Mandalorian – Chapter 1

The first episode of the Disney+ series introduces us to a nameless Mandalorian bounty hunter (Pedro Pascal) first through a rather routine bounty and second through a new job off-the-books that raises several red flags for our protagonist but whose payout cannot be ignored. Series creator Jon Favreau, who also wrote the first episode aims for a tone reminiscent of the Mos Eisley Cantina found in the original Star Wars. The early bar fight to open the episode and the later attack on a heavily-armed compound both show off the character’s skill-set, while the final scene of the episode offers a glimpse into the character’s emotional state.

NCIS – The North Pole

In a callback to “Out of Darkness” and “Into the Light” which returned Cote de Pablo as Ziva David, “The North Pole” deals with the remaining mission Ziva wished to accomplish before returning to her family. The set-up of NCIS’ involvement is a bit awkward involving Odette Malone (Elayn J. Taylor) lying and tricking Bishop (Emily Wickersham) in order to secure the help of NCIS in the attempt to save a contact and friend of Ziva’s who was her lifeline during her years on underground. The twist the episode involves the reveal that the Sahar (Mouzam Makkar) killed was a lieutenant and not the true terrorist leader (Louise Barnes) who has been living under Gibb’s nose all this time.
