Lucifer - Quintessential Deckerstar television review

There’s a bit of deja vu in play in “Quintessential Deckerstar” as Lucifer (Tom Ellis) attempts to force the old normality back onto his relationship with Chloe (Lauren German). We also get a murder of the week, an apparent home invasion gone wrong which will tie back into Charlotte‘s (Tricia Helfer) past as a defense attorney, and a series of events involving Pierce (Tom Welling) and Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) which build on season-long arcs and will lead directly into next week’s season finale.

Elementary - Once You've Ruled Out God TV review

Murder by lightning gun turns Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) and Joan (Lucy Liu) on to a local laboratory missing some platinum, a dead Nazi bomb maker, and a legitimate threat of a dirty bomb being detonated in New York City. While the threat is very much real, the truth behind the series of events is never quite what it seems. The episode’s B-story involves more of Joan’s sister (Samantha Quan) and the death of her estranged and mentally-unstable biological father. While mostly filler, the B-story does feature a nice moment between the detectives which ties in Sherlock’s current illness with that of the father Joan barely knew.

Supergirl – Trinity

“Let me get this straight, you want me to broadcast your consciousness into a magical dark valley dimension using the 31st Century technology which allowed me to access your mind when Reign punched you into a coma, technology specifically designed to enter human consciousness, not alternate realms, and you want me to do this all before the solar eclipse achieves totality which will happen in less than two hours.”

Supergirl - Trinity television review

With the trio of world killers united, Kara (Melissa Benoist) calls on the help of Brainiac-5 (Jesse Rath) to use Legion technology and send the Girl of Steel, Alex (Chyler Leigh), and Lena (Katie McGrath) into the dark dimension where Sam‘s (Odette Annable) consciousness is trapped along with the human consciousness of the other killers which are slowly dying. Unable to be sure that she can trust Lena, Supergirl enlists the help of Guardian (Mehcad Brooks) to confirm the Luthor stockpile of Kryptonite (which Lena was using to keep Reign sedated) has been extinguished as Lena claims… which sounds like just the kind of really bad idea that could be the first domino to fall in Luthor villain turn.

Deception - Pilot television review

My initial reaction to the “Pilot” episode of Deception is that ABC’s latest odd couple consultant detective show is a bit too complicated than in needs to be. The network got quite a bit out of the flamboyant and risk-taking consultant and the more straight shooter cop in Castle, but there Castle’s simple interest in real-life crime (and the lovely backside of Detective Beckett) was more than enough to keep him around week to week. Here the show’s creator Chris Fedak has saddled the show with an ongoing conspiracy backstory that may or may not ever payoff. The show starts off with a magic trick and then a frame job that put the twin brother of famous magician Cameron Black (Jack Cutmore-Scott) behind bars. A year later, with his act it ruins, Cameron is still searching for the magician (Stephanie Corneliussen) who destroyed both brothers’ lives.

Arrow - Docket No. 11-19-41-73 television review

The day of Oliver Queen‘s (Stephen Amell) trial has arrived. As we saw in The Flash earlier this season, the trial will take only a single episode. Of course what makes this one different is Oliver is actually guilty of the crimes he’s been accused of and the entire Star City judicial system is under the thumb of Ricardo Diaz (Kirk Acevedo). While something of a mess, much like the trial itself, “Docket No. 11-19-41-73” works fairly well offering some surprises including the return of Christopher Chance (Wil Traval) resurrecting a First Season Arrow cast member to become the public face of the Green Arrow.
