Atlanta - Streets on Lock

Following the parking lot shooting which was alluded to in both the opening and closing scenes of the Atlanta’s first episode (but not actually shown in either episode so far), “Streets on Lock” picks up events the following day as Alfred (Brian Tyree Henry) is processed and released to discover the overblown story of what happened has earned the aspiring rapper new street cred while Earn (Donald Glover) stews in holding, with a bizarre cast of characters, while waiting to be processed. Although to be fair, the folks Paper Boi runs into on the street aren’t necessarily any less colorful (or any more sane).

Stranger Things - Chapter One: The Vanishing of Will Byers

Overflowing with 80s Speilberg style, Stranger Things opens with not one but two pre-credit horror sequences teasing of something very dangerous. The first of these takes place at the Hawkins National Laboratory where something some kind of dangerous creature has escaped. The second involves something ominous hunting down middle school student Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) on his bike ride home from playing Dungeons & Dragons with his friends Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo). In neither case do we get a good look at the creature, but it’s obvious something very strange is going on in the otherwise sleepy town of Hawkins, Indiana.

“Look, I don’t have $500. I make $5.15 plus commissions, I gotta pay rent tonight, and my parents won’t let me in the house. It’s like those drug commercials, only not funny.”

Atlanta - The Big Bang

The first episode of Atlanta introduces us to Earnest Marks (Donald Glover), his ex-girlfriend (Zazie Beetz) and daughter, and his cousin Alfred (Brian Tyree Henry). Stuck in a series of dead-end jobs and schemes which have failed to pay-off, Earn gets the idea to attach himself to Alfred’s aspiring music career as the rapper’s new manager. Of course to do so he’ll have to get around his shifty reputation which even his parents admit is his defining characteristic.

Killjoys - How to Kill Friends and Influence People

The Second Season of Killjoys comes to a close with Dutch (Hannah John-Kamen), Johnny (Aaron Ashmore), and D’Avin (Luke Macfarlane) working alongside Khlyen (Rob Stewart) and Fancy (Sean Baek) to break into a bank and destroy the source of the yellow goo found and developed on Arkyn. The job turns out to be a little more difficult than expected, and one member of the team won’t make it out alive. “How to Kill Friends and Influence People” also delivers a few answers about Khlyen and his connection to both the ooze and to Dutch’s insane doppelganger Aneela (who it appears will be a major player next season).

Pretty Little Liars - The DArkest Knight

The series’ final mid-season finale may not deliver the identity of A.D. (although we can cross two more possibilities off the list), but it does offer its share of moments and secrets revealed heading into the hiatus before Pretty Little Liars returns for its final ten episodes next spring. Hanna‘s (Ashley Benson) disappearance forces the Liars to get the police involved and let the authorities know about Noel Kahn‘s (Brant Daugherty) connection to the Doll House and A. As everyone believes Kahn has kidnapped Hanna the reverse is actually true, although the outcome will be far different than the Liar planned.
